Sommer Joy is a compassionate and caring pre-licensed psychotherapist at SHARE Therapy & Wellness whose work focuses on helping clients navigate life's challenges. She is dedicated to supporting individuals on their journey of healing, growth, and self-discovery through a holistic approach that recognizes the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit.

Sommer’s passion for mental health began during her career as an educator, where she noticed many students struggling with their mental health. Her own life journey took a profound turn after the traumatic loss of her husband in 2018, prompting her to change careers. As a widow and suicide loss survivor, she has a unique understanding of the challenges widows and widowers face in seeking meaning and rebuilding relationships after loss.

Sommer’s approach to therapy is warm, relational, and strengths-based. She integrates a variety of modalities such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), coherence therapy, mindfulness, somatic therapy, and trauma-informed care, tailored to meet the unique needs of each client. Her lived experiences have provided her with an understanding of the nuances of traumatic loss, grief, and sexuality.

Sommer is also an AASECT certified sexuality educator who is experienced in supporting individuals with LGBTQIA+ identities, as well as individuals with sexual health concerns. Her work in this area helps individuals make informed choices about their bodies, intimate partners, and relationships.
