Yma's Story

Yma A. Campozano (she/her/ella) is a pre-licensed psychotherapist and holds a master’s degree in clinical social work from the University of South Florida and holds a B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Psychology from NYC’s Hunter College. As a neurodivergent, physically disabled woman living with Spina Bifida, Yma is dedicated to and passionate about fostering a supportive environment for folx with disabilities facing challenges, particularly in the realm of acceptance, minority stress, neurodivergence, societal stigma, discrimination, and lack of family understanding or support. With a passion for mental health advocacy, her therapeutic approach emphasizes empathy, inclusivity, empowerment, and self-expression and is relational and queer & disability-affirming. Through tailored interventions, she strives to guide individuals toward radical acceptance of their authentic selves and to embrace their personalized journey of self-discovery. Through modeling behaviors of authentic expression and creating a supportive environment, she promotes resilience and positive identity development. Yma has also dedicated her time to fighting for social justice and for the rights of people living with disabilities.
