Solana's Story

Solana Barr is a dedicated, pre-licensed clinical social worker with a Master of Social Work from the University of South Florida, where she also earned her Bachelor of Social Work. As an Army veteran, she brings a wealth of lived experience to her practice, fostering resilience, empowerment, and culturally responsive care for diverse populations. She believes in the power of safe, affirming spaces where individuals can heal, grow, and reclaim their sense of agency.

Solana’s journey into social work was shaped by her military service, where she witnessed the unseen emotional and psychological toll on service members and their families. That calling deepened through her clinical training at the James A. Haley VA Hospital, where she supported homeless veterans navigating complex challenges—including PTSD, schizophrenia, and housing insecurity. She applies a strengths-based approach to her work, helping individuals tap into their own capacity for stability and self-determination.

Beyond her clinical training, Solana is a community-driven leader. As Membership Director for Theta Nu Psi Auxiliary, she cultivates mentorship, professional development, and meaningful connections. In her role as Historian for Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., she preserves chapter milestones, amplifies service initiatives, and fosters storytelling that celebrates impact. Additionally, she volunteers as a Guardian ad Litem and crisis counselor, advocating for children in foster care and providing emotional support through text-based crisis intervention platforms.

Solana is passionate about health equity, trauma-informed care, and accessibility in mental health services. Multilingual in English, Haitian Creole, Spanish and French, she strives to make therapy inclusive and affirming across diverse communities. Whether working in therapeutic settings, leadership spaces, or advocacy roles, she remains committed to championing dignity, resilience, and the empowerment of those she serves.
